Witches, monsters, magic… by now, you’ve probably seen it all, heard it all, read it all. Or so you think… And who would blame you? Archibald himself felt the exact same way… until he got thrust into the adventure of a lifetime. That’s exactly what this book is. Not just another middle grade book or teen fantasy book.
Archibald Finch is a gateway to a world of dreams and a nightmarish world all at once. A world that will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about witches, magic… and dragons.
This entire endeavor could have been about a boy who finds an ancient relic in his grandma’s manor, gets swept into a mysterious realm, and ends up fighting a horde of mythical creatures alongside an army of young witches. That would have been a pretty fantastic story already. But we’ve chosen to dig deeper, and avoid the usual clichés found in adventure books.
Archibald Finch and the Lost Witches is magic reimagined. Beyond the magic spells, the secret weapons and the epic fights, the book sets out to explore and revisit old legends, to give them a brand new meaning. The very concepts of witches, and magic in general, have been set in stone and stuck for too long. The same thing goes with dragons. The idea was to breathe new life into that ancient myth, by injecting dragons with a totally different DNA, giving them a plausible birth and a credible existence. And what better way to make those creatures as real as can be than by adding drawings to the book, 26 in total, executed by the amazingly talented illustrator Zina Kostich.
In the end, through unique world building, never seen before monsters, and a thriller-like adventure, it’s an entirely new magical universe that awaits the readers. A world that will unfold over the long run, since Archibald Finch and the Lost Witches is only the first in a fantastic book series.
The goal is not just to entertain, but also to inspire readers. The idea is to challenge you every step of the way, at the every turn of this new chapter book, the same way Archibald's sister gets challenged after his disappearance, through an incredible coming of age experience.
Archibald Finch is not just a fun read, it’s a smart read. Often described as “Harry Potter meets Da Vinci Code”, it has all the key ingredients of a magical children’s book, with a twist: although Archibald Finch is not really an historical novel, it has a strong connection to History, with a story rooted in real events, and more specifically, one of the darkest episodes of Human History… witch-hunting in the Middle Ages.
Archibald Finch doesn’t just come with a different breed of monsters, it also introduces a different breed of heroes, smart heroes and inspiring role models. And then there’s Archibald himself, more of a reluctant hero, an anti-hero in many ways, who never wished for such an adventure, and will have to move past his fears, doubts and (many) defaults to survive.
The world of Archibald Finch is not only a world built for kids, it’s a world of kids, where adults have mostly secondary roles. The book has become a kids books bestseller on Amazon, getting amazing reviews in the process. But Archibald Finch reaches far beyond the 9-12 year old book audience, and includes many adult readers.
The feedback we’ve received is not just encouraging. Countless people have been telling us they can’t put the book down, and many are wondering and asking what comes next. Well, book 2 is already in the making, and we can’t wait to share more of this incredible adventure story with you.
